Wrong Charlotte Cogburn trail Gibson TN
Previosly I had been on the wrong Charlotte Cogbuern trail.I am now looking for anyone who is familiar to the Cogburn Family in Gibson Tn. I am looking for a Willliam Cogburn married to a Charlotte they sold a piece of land in 1835 Madison County. Had a son name David born 1833 a son named John C.b. 1835( according to marriage records in Gibson John's middle initial was a C. previously thought to be a M.)John C. Cogburn is who I descend from. If any of you Cogburn cousins out there who came from West TN know what the C. stands for in John name it could be a big clue as to what Cogburn/Cockburn/Coburn family his father William Cogburn comes from. Wife Charlotte is listed as place of birth in the 1850 Gibson census as NC. Charlotte age would be around 1805 while husband William may be slightly older or less likely slightly younger. He is out of her life by 1840 seeing that she is head of house in 1840 Gibson census under Cogbin. Did he die or leave her??? I have a notion to think that since she is from NC he was probably from there also. In early 1800's most Cogburns were still using the Cockburn spelling. I have found one William Cockburn who could possibly fit his discription age wise from the war of 1812 NC. I need to find any William Cockburn/Cogburn born late 1780's to very early 1800's and research them to find our Cogburn's further back then William and Charlotte. The C. in Johns name could be a clue Help Help Help you West TN Cogburn cousins. Daphne
