Joseph Cross Sr, Rev War Veteran, and 2nd wife Sarah Cogdill, proved married 26 April 1796 by J.P. Michael Eaker Lincoln Co NC; along with son (by second wife)William Cross and new bride Rebecca (?); NEVER returned to Lincoln Co area after leaving.Joseph Cross Jr and wife Ann Cogdill were the ONLY Crosses to return to Lincoln Co.
Joseph Cross Sr, and son William, went up into Cocke Co Tenn in 1817, stayed through 1820, and then returned to Buncombe Co NC in 1821; all proved, recorded, where Joseph Sr died 1842. Sarah would die at age 100, Georgia.Your posting, second paragraph, is incorrect, mixed up, and I am sure that Erma knew said data was incorrect, so must have been mistake. You can take this to bank if you are interested in accurate Cogdill data.
