Alexander COHORN [var] Orange Co NC 1770s
Looking for anyone who may have researched the COHORN name
and its many variations. My g+grandfather was Alexander who
died in Orange Co NC in 1776. His name is spelled 3 different
ways in his will - CAWTHRON, CAUGHRON, COHORN,
and COHERN, COTHRAN, and COWHORN in other records. His children and grandchildren settled on the COTHRON and COTHRAN spellings later on.
Alexander was married to Ester DICKERSON [?], and fathered
9 issue: Mary 1752; John 1753; James 1755; Alexander 1759;
Samuel 1761; Jean 1765; Isabel 1773; Ester 1774 who married
James DORITY, my g+grandparents; Mathew 1776.
It is entirely possible that Ester DICKERSON[?] was the
2nd wife given the space between daughters Jean and Isabel,
and the fact that Ester was pregnant with Mathew when old
Any help great appreciated.
