Homer, I'm happy to provide the following information about your Coldiron ancestors.Since I don't know how long these messages can be, I will make this brief. We have much more information on all these families which I can provide to you directly, via e-mail or hard copy.
Your Grandparents: Emerson Arthur Coldiron, b. 3 Apr 1910 in Milam Co., TX, married Bertha Beatrice Bullard. They had two children, Robert Lee and your father Homer Allen Coldiron.
Great-Grandparents: Arthur Coldiron, b. 19 Oct 1880 in Madisonville, Madison Co., TX, married Ida Mae Price. They had seven children: Elton Burton, Aubrey Clark, Alton Ruby, Emerson Arthur, Zelma Ida, Leslie Newton, and Opal May (all with surname Coldiron, of course).
Great-Great-Grandparents: George Washington Coldiron, b. Sep 1848 in Henderson Co., TX, married Elvira W. Forsythe. They had seven children: Elonzo (Lon), Maggie, George Monroe, Edna, Arthur, Luther Herbert, and Claude. All children born in Madison Co., TX.
G-G-G-Grandparents: Jacob Coldiron, b. 1827 in Harlan Co., KY, married first to Leafy C. (last name unknown). They had six children: George Washington, Margaret F., Hartwell Monroe, Sarah Melissa, Lisuanda R., and Nancy E.
G-G-G-G-Grandparents: George Coldiron, b. about 1783 in Rowan Co., NC, married Susan Onstott. For many years, we knew her only as Susan, but we now are quite positive she was an Onstott. They had seven children: Joanna, James Henry, Bijah, Rachel, Jacob, and Nancy M.An interesting bit of history about this family – in 1831 George moved his family from Harlan Co., KY to Missouri. We are quite positive this was the first Coldiron family to cross the Mississippi River, moving West.
G-G-G-G-G-Grandparents: Conrad Coldiron, b. about 1760 in Berks Co., PA, married Rachel Hendricks. They possibly had as many as 13 children, although it's possible some of them are improperly positioned in this family.Children we are sure of are: George, James, Catherine (Caty), Henry, John, William, and Jesse.Conrad moved with his parents to Rowan Co., NC in about 1766, started his family there, moved to Ashe Co., NC in about 1789, and on to Knox Co. (now Harlan Co.) KY in about 1808.Conrad died in Harlan Co., KY in 1835.
G-G-G-G-G-G-Grandparents: Johan Georg Kalteisen (George Coldiron), b. 1730 in Germany. He immigrated to America in 1750 and married Anna Catherine Schumacher in 1754.They started their family in Berks Co., PA and moved to Rowan Co., NC in about 1766.George died there in 1805.The German name Kalteisen, when converted to English, becomes Coldiron.Every Coldiron we've traced in the past 35 years of research descends from Johan Georg Kalteisen (George Coldiron). Thus, all Coldirons are related. We now have over 12,000 related Coldirons in our database.
Again, the above is a brief summary of your ancestors.I would be happy to provide details of each of these families if you wish.It is much easier to send it via hard copy since I can print it directly from the Coldiron database without having to re-type into an e-mail.
So – Yep! – there are plenty of us cousins out there, and we're glad to hear from you.If you want to follow-up, you can contact me directly via e-mail:[email protected]
