Coles in Detroit and Ontario
Detroit:1928.Ada and Leonard Cole had 7 children:Kenneth, Russell, David, Theordore, Janice, Florence and Lawrence (twins).Ada died January 2, 1928 of blood poisoning.Leonard, unemployed due to the Depression, adopted out David, Kenneth, Russell and the twins (Florence and Lawrence).Supposedly the twins (about a year old then) were adopted by a doctor and his wife.David was adopted by the Faurote family.I managed to do a little digging and came up with a ton of stuff and am quite surprised (I am the daughter of David) that not one sibling or sibling relative has sought out roots.Because of Michigan's archaic adoption laws (sealed forever), it's been difficult tracking down what happened to the rest of the Coles. Many stayed in Detroit area.I already found Theodore's family. Many lived in Ontario, Canada.Ada's maiden name was Cliff (her father's name was Thomas Cliff). This Cole name dates back to the Kool Jacob Barentsen name (Dutch). This is a very tragic and sad family story....that would be my guess as to why no one has bothered. So if you are out there and have been looking for a connection, feel free to contact me.I even have photos!!!!
