Charity Coleman and Elijah Worley lived in Columbus County in the area near Fair Bluff, not far from Robeson County, NC and Horry County, SC.Powell, in a newspaper article in 1971, records their 13 children as Ervin, Jackson, Coleman, Clinton, Return Strong, Mariah, Nancy, Dellah, Green, Orpha, Colin, Alford Martine (John), and Mary Ann Worley.Elijah was son of Nicholas and Patience Worley.Charity was born to Moses and Luraine Coleman.Moses was second of a line of three Moses Colemans. Moses II lived in Johnson, Bladen and Columbus Counties. Moses I lived in Edgecombe County, NC, owned land on the north side of the Tar River,
North of Tarboro near where Fishing Creek is joined by Deep Creek and flows into the Tar River. Moses I married Luraine/Lourena who may have been born a Faulk. Moses I was born to Robert Coleman, II, born 1676 in Nansemond County Virginia. His wife's name was Susanna and Robert left a will in Edgecombe County Virginia. Robert II was born to Robert Coleman, I, the first on soil of the Viginia colony of Britain.Robert I was likely born around 1650, likely transported to the colony around 1667, and is known to have first patented land in Nansemond County in 1684. He and his descendants are the subject of my book online, Descendants of Robert Coleman of Nansemond County Virginia,
1684 - 1920. For more details, see my book online at:
