Thanks a bundle!!!! I just found out today that dan was a musician and sallie was a cook. There is also some family in washington DC and ohio but she couldn't remember who or how they are related, So I believe the info you have provided has helped to justify oral history!
I was also told today that alberta's last name had a "sh" sound, but she could not remember if it started with a "c" or "s". She also stated that alberta said she could not legally marry enice due to race issues so they had to be "spiritually" married.
She went on to tell me that dan's mother is the one that was native american which is why he had trouble speaking english. He grew up speaking his mother's native cherokee language (his father was black).
she said the coles line doesn't have much history in the states. We came straight off of the boat in the 1800's and was brought str8 through the west indies from africa into the east coast.
I just wish I could find solid paperwork to tie all this together. I believe the information you have provided has opened the path to me finding the truth. I am ever thankful for your time and effort you have put into this for me :)
