I have a scattered history of John Collis who had a son John Collis Jr. Jr ran off to participate in the gold rush of 1849 and appearantly his father was not too happy with it. John Jr met with some success but then fell ill and was swindled out of his gold during his sickness. (he gave his gold to his landlord and asked him to get a doctor..neither returned) He did recover and earned enough money to go back to Illinois. That is all that was written about it. Hope this is of some use to you.
