Pluma Compton Sword Cerderia Coleman was my aunt. She did indeed marry Leander. She was the Daughter of Grover Compton (s/o James Buchanan "Buck" Compton) and Bessie Wyatt. Other children of the marriage were Leonard (Sleepy), Milton (still alive on Chloe Creek), Roy (my Father, and Norma Jean. Pluma died last year. Following is her obit.
Obituary Pluma Compton Coleman, 84, of Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Pikeville, died Tuesday, June 15, 1999, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital. She was born in Pikeville, Feb. 28, 1915, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland and Bessie Wyatt Compton. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by two sons, Buford Lee Sword and James Manuel Cerdeira; and one daughter, Betty Sword. She is survived by two sons, Bob C. Steele of Paris, Texas, Gary D. Cerdeira of Bardstown; three daughters, Deanna C. Howard of Pikeville, Cheryl C. Plumridge of St. Petersburg, Fla., Karen C. Jones of Melvin; one brother, Milton Compton of Pikeville; 14 grandchildren, and 10 great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 18, in the Lucas & Hall Funeral Home Chapel, with Chester Varney and Hillary Underwood officiating. Burial will follow in Davidson Memorial Gardens, Ivel. Arrangements are under direction of Lucas & Hall Funeral Home of Pikeville. Pallbearers are Rick Howard, Greg Howard, Sonny C. Jones, Sonny C. Jones III, and Randall Coleman.
