Re Compton and Adams line.My info came from an aunt who gathered information over the years, from the 1930's through the 1970's from cousins in Texas, Oxford, MS and around the country. This is also the aunt who went to Compton Wynyates and had tea with the Marquis of Northhampton and called him "Cousin Robbie" -- no telling what he thought!!She put together five typewritten pages of information, with no documentatation, of line of descent. She was a very active member of DAR so she would have to have had some knowledge of needing to know correct sources.
Her infor shows "Walter Sidney Compton, fourth child of William Clarke Compton & Elizabeth Elgin, was born at Hill Top, Charles County, Md, in 1768.He removed with his parents to Culpepper, now Rappahanock County, VA, and there married his cousin, Elizabeth Ann Adams, in 1797, who was the daughter of Francis Adams of MD and Henrietta Clarke, and who was born near Port Tobacco, MD in 1773.She died in TN in 1830."They had nine children.
My Compton line is sketchy three generations beyond the Compton-Askew line but will be glad to share what I have.
