John, I clicked on your name and looked at your other postings, and made the connection to your mother and grandmother.
My father joined the Navy in 1939, just out of high school. He never returned to Mississippi to live; we kids were all born and raised in Norfolk Virginia. Most of my eight brothers and sisters still live close by, with a couple in Florida.
Aunt Bunce's son, Lavelle Simmons, lives in Gulfport and was very interested in genealogy the last time I saw him. Aunt Mae's granddaughter Pam is another family historian. Of our other cousins, the one that I trade family discoveries with most is Uncle Charlie's son, Eddie.
I recently discovered that Richard Burton's wife was Ruth M Woodward. I found her surname on the Delaware death certificate of their daughter, Hannah Burton Baylis. I haven't found anything else on Richard and Ruth yet. I believe that Richard moved to Kentucky after the Civil War, and have traced the family of his son John, but haven't made any connections with descendants. That line seems to have died out.
As to your Wallaces, Uncle O's wife is Joyce Wallace Burton. I think her father is Samuel Reed Wallace, who I think is of the same family you're researching. Have you ever talked to her? She lives in McNeill, and was doing great the last time I saw her.
I don't have a tree on Ancestry, but will email you my gedcom so that you can compare our research. We can carry on our discussion by email, if that's alright with you.
