Lewis. . .I apologize for the delay in responding. . .I just found your 2 responses to my post.Apparently I am NOT being notified, as in years past, when someone responds to a post of mine.
I question the 1760 or 1762 birth year for Augustine.
Where did you find the birth information for BOTH he and the Zachariah, b. 1750 that are ascribed to Zachariah Compton b. 1712 married to Ann Middleton b. 1714? If you apply the twenty year rule, they should be having children +/- in the mid-1730's. I am in Houston, Texas and cannot personally examine Maryland records other than on-line.
In my research of the Briscoes and Middletons, I find it interesting that the Briscoe research (George Ely Russell) did NOT include Zachariah Compton b 1737/1739 among the children of Matthew Compton II (1709-1770) and Rachel Howard.
IF, in fact, Augustine was born in 1762 AND was wounded in the Battle of Brandywine in September of 1777. . .he was 15 years old.
The +/- 1755 date would place him closer to the Zachariah Compton b 1750 who d 1804 that I find living close to Augustine in early Kentucky.
Do you know anything of the John Compton b. 1747 listed as a brother to these two?
Is there no one out there who actually belongs to this line of Zachariah 1712 married to Ann Middleton 1714?
AND, do you have any information as to where the name Augustine come from?
Thank you for your prompt responses to my February post.Again, my tardiness was not due to lack of interest.
