Thomas Andrew Conard or Andrew Thomas Conard
Looking for information on the ancestry of Thomas Andrew or Andrew Thomas Conard of North Carolina to Missouri briefly and then on to Fort Scott Kansas. From some family data and death certificates it seems to show a changing of names from Conrad in North Carolina to Conard later, Thomas Conrad and Hanna Rebecca Waterson were definately his parents and show on the 1850 Forsyth County North Carolina census.
Apparently a lot of Conard and Conrad changes occurred----possibly from people prior to common literacy with some writing down the name as they heard it???
I'm still trying to narrow down the information on Thomas Conard/Conrad.
He definately lived from about 1804, born in North Carolina, found Clearly on the 1850 Forsyth County census data.He definately was married to Hanna Rebecca Waterson, and Alexander Conrad was the marriage bondsman.
His son, Andrew L Conrad on the census, goes through some name alterations---Andrew Thomas and Thomas Andrew; and later in Kansas gives the last name as Conard----presumably more than just a spelling issue----I'm wondering if he was another Confed. Vet looking for a better life after the civil war.He definately (Thomas Andrew Conrad/Conard) went from North Carolina to Missouri and then to the Fort Scott Kansas area.
Teasing out the Forsyth (previously Stokes) County Conrads has been very difficult.
There is a Jarvis family genalogy web site that is helpful. Also there is data on the Moravian church that is helpful.findagrave.com has significant data also.
Anyone with a good lead, I'd appreciate hearing what you have.
