Moyers/Ann Condley/Gass connection
I have documents sent to me by other Moyers/Collins/Gass relations that say that Mary Collins and Mathias Moyers of Jefferson Co. Tennessee had a son named Jacob b. March 8, 1802 that married Ann Condley, daughter ofRev. John Condley. Ann was born 1810 in Grainger Co. Tennessee
Other documents say that Mary Collins and Mathias Moyers had a son named John b. May 23, 1807 that married Ann Condley, of Grainger Co. Tennessee.
Now there is a third document that says that Mary Collins Moyers married Andrew Gass, Jr. after the death of Mathias Moyers. Mary and Andrew had a son William Thomas Gass b.September 3, 1821 that married Ann Condley of Grainger Co. Tennessee. This is proven fact from the Gass family bible where the marriage date of William T. Gass and Ann Condley is written as well as their death dates and place of burial. I am not questioning this marriage.
However,I do question the top two bits of info about the two brothers marrying this Ann Condley. I think that somewhere down the line of researchers there has been a mix up with brothers Jacob and John Moyers and which one married Ann Condley. The only other explaination is that both brothers did indeed marry the same girl. If that is the case then Ann Condley would have been married to three sons of Mary Collins. Jocob and John Moyers from the marriage of Mary Collins and Mathias Moyers and William Thomas Gass the son of Mary Collins Moyers and Andrew Gass.
One noticable bit of info about Ann Condley, she was born in 1810 and was about the same age as the Moyers boys who were born in 1802 and 1807. Ann was several years older than her husband William T. Gass who wasn't born until 1827. Which means that she could have been married to either or both of the Moyers boys before Gass as she would have known all three if she had married into the Moyers family first.
If anyone can provide proven info or unquestionable reasoning of the marriage of Ann Condley to either of the Moyers brothers, Jacob or John would they please reply to this message. I am posting it on several message boards in hopes to reach someone who has info. Diana McBay
