Re: Thomas Conrey,1761,Middleton,NJ,1828 NYC
Very pleased with your early research. I have found Stephan, Samuel, and otherConrey family members in post Rev. War company business records in Lowell, MA showing payments for delivery of lumber for multiple years as the canals and textile mills were being built.Details will follow when I can reexamine my records in storage. They appear to have come from New Hampshire. Lumber no doubt from New Hampshire.Wondering if they were there prior to Rev. War or if they received land in New Hampshire for payment of service in Rev. War.While the company paymaster used various spellings, the receipt records show their original signatures as Conrey.Did not have the early NJ. info. before.Perhaps New York Conreys and the New Hampshire Conreys are from the same line after all. There is a pocket of Conreys in Leominster, Worcester Co. MA.My husband descends from George Conrey found in Nashua area,NH and later Lowell, MA. where he died.Have info. on descendants for his son,George, who was orphaned and located in a variety of cities, finally settling in Omaha, NE.He was a cooper when a youngman.
