JANE ISBELL FRAZIER CONLEY OBIT

Jane Isbell Frazier Conley, age 94, passed away at her home in Scottsboro, Alabama on Monday, November 21,2011.

Mrs. Conley was born in Guntersville, Alabama the second daughter of Leila Mae and Col. D Isbell.

Following her graduation from The University of Alabama, Mrs. Conley's wide ranging travels included; working on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. during WW II; secretary at The First Congregational Church in Los Angeles, Cal. and finally in 1946, as receptionist to Alabama's newly elected governor, James E. (Big Jim) Folsom.

The following year, Mrs. Conley married Major William H. Frazier Jr., who was stationed at nearby Gunter Field, Maxwell Air Force Base. Mrs. Conley's marriage to Major Frazier was filled with both great joy as well as deep sadness. A son, William H. Frazier III, was born in September 1949; however, in November 1950, Major Frazier was killed in action while serving in Korea.

Now a widow and living first in Guntersville and later on in Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Conley met and married Paul W. Conley, a businessman from Scottsboro.

Mrs. Conley's survivors include daughter, Janet Webb Conley Christian; son, William (Hank) Frazier; niece, Sarah Jane Knott; granddaughters: Laura Conley Christian, Lisa Christian Howell and Lisbeth Jane Jones; great grandchildren: Austin Max Croft, Paul Christian Cotter, Anna Laura Cotter, John Wesley Howell, Ferris Fitts Jones and Lucie Jane Jones.

Funeral services was Friday, November 25 at The First United Methodist Church in Scottsboro. Family burial services was in Guntersville, Alabama.
