Re: James Cook b. VA d. in SC 1816

James Cook(e), we believe, was a son of Clayton Cooke & Henrietta Henderson. Clayton's father was William Cooke(died ca1752, Hanover VA). Henrietta was daughter of Richard Henderson(d1748) & Henrietta Henley.

James mrd Ursula Mitchell ca1772. She was dau of Isaac(?) Mitchell & Mary Williams.
James & Ursula had John R., Clayton, Mary, Daniel, Mitchell, Tobias, & William. The latter married Wright or Ligon sisters. Both are listed in records in Cumberland County, VA.

William, Clayton's father, is believed to be a son of Abraham Cooke & Martha Clayton, mrd before 1688. They lived in Richmond County, New Kent, & Hanover/Louisa.

William(ca1752); John(d1775); Abraham jr(d1748); Frances, mrd Edmund Butler; Matthew(born in 1690's); Hannah(born in 1690's); Benjamin(d1759, Hanover).
