Hi there, I realize that you posted quite some time ago, but apparently I never saw it. Anyway my direct Cook line had Indian ancestry and was from MA and then some of them moved to other New England states and then westward. Growing up I always knew that we had Indian ancestry. Not only did my parents and grandparents tell me, it was very apparent from their appearances including my own.Unfortunately they couldn't recall what tribe/tribes. My dad thought it might be Abenaki because we lived in NH, but years later when I really became interested in genealogy I discovered that our Cook line had apparently originated down around the Worcester MA area and had moved north to NH about 1783 to the Sandwich/Moultonborough area. I don't know if the Indian blood was there from the very beginning, or if it was by intermarriage. Many Indians were highly encouraged to take English names in the early days and call themselves white and that is why it is so hard to trace Indian ancestors in New England.I know my direct Cook line all the way back to my 6th greatgrandfather Cornelius Cook from Westborough, MA and that is where it ends. I have searched for many years but can find nothing about where or when he was born or who his parents were.According to a couple places he MAY have been born about 1701, I know he did marry Eunice Forbush in 1727 in Westborough and they had 10 childrenMy line is through his oldest son Jonathan. I am a senior citizen now and often wonder if I will solve this huge mystery.
