Michael,George,James Cook 1780's in NC

This is what I think I know-
Michael Cook (born around 1750),has a son named George.
George Cook (born around 1780), has a son named James.
James Cook (born around 1800), leaves NC and moves to Pike County Kentucky.
James Marries in Pike County a girl names Rebbecca Tackitt, who was from Hawkins County TN. Their marriage is recorded 5-22-1823.
James had a son named William born 02-26-1823.
In a hand written manuscript by William, he states that his father was James, his grandfather was George Cook and his great grandfather was Mikel Cook from Ireland. It is also possible that William may have mistaken his great grandfather's homeland. As we all know stories change over the years.If any of this sounds familiar please respond.
