Bill, I don't know anything about a George Cook, and very little about Henry. I do have some information about my husband's immediate line from Catherine (Caty) and a little on her sister, Christina. I'm posting it below with notes including footnotes marked in [ ]'s so you can tell where I found the info. The notes areas I copied them from the various sources on the internet and from family sources.
I would appreciate anything you can tell me about the other people in the family line.
First Generation
———————————————————————————————————
1. Henry COOK. Born in 1752 in Thompson's Creek, VA. Occupation: Revolutionary War Soldier.
abt 1782 Henry married Unknown. Born ? 1765 in NC.
They had the following children:
2 i. Catherine (Caty) (1787-)
3 ii. Christiana
HENRY COOK born on Tompsons Creek in Va. in 1752, so he states on his app. for a pension from the Rev. war he then went to PA., N.C., with his father, and then after the war went to KY., & Tn [1]
Second Generation
—————————————————————————————————————
Family of Henry COOK (1) & Unknown
2. Catherine (Caty) COOK. Born in 1787 in NC.
On 19 May 1805 Catherine (Caty) married Perrin CARDWELL JR, son of Perrin CARDWELL (ca 1745-) & Sarah CEARLY (ca 1754-), in Adair, KY. Born ca 1778 in Rockingham Or Stokes Co., NC. Perrin died ca 1835 in Carroll Co., TN.
They had the following children:
4 i. Perrin (ca1811-)
5 ii. Female (ca1815-)
6 iii. Elizabeth (1819-1904)
7 iv. Female (ca1822-)
8 v. Female (ca1825-)
9 vi. Richard (ca1827-)
10 vii. George (ca1830-)
11 viii. Rebecca (1832-)
Both Richard and Perrin Cardwell married Cook girls. They moved from Adair Co.KY to Carroll Co.TN. By 1840 they moved on to Ark... Greene Co.
Richard and Perrin are the sons of Perrin Cardwell and Sarah Cearly. This Perrin (as there were many) was the son of John Cardwell and Keziah Low. Perrin Sr. was a Rev. War vet and lived most of his life in the Stokes/Surry county area of NC. [3]
In the 1830 census of Carroll County, TennesseePerrin Cardwell and family b. 1770-80 /wife b. 1790-1800 - 7 kids. Living right next door is Richard Cardwell and family b.1780-90 /wife b.1790-1800 - 6 kids
They do not show up in the 1840 Carroll County Census, BUT an interesting record in the Carroll County Court Minutes can be found......It appears that George and Paran Cardwell did not pay their taxes in 1839. They are both listed as "removed". They "removed" to Green County, Arkansas were they can be found in the 1840 census.
It appears that Perrin b.1770-80 has died and his widow Catherine b. 1782is listed as Head of Household. Five children are still living with her.
I "think" that their son Perrin b.1815-20 is living next door. He married Elizabeth Ann Stone in Carroll County, TN on 19 Jan 1839.
Richard Cardwell b. 1780-90 is living close also. It appears that he is widowed and still has 5 children at home. Living next to him is George Cardwell b. ca 1820 who I think is the oldest son of Richard. Being that the Carroll County records state George and Paran Cardwell might point that Richard had already made the move to Arkansas. His oldest son George may have stayed behind to finish harvest, etc with Perrin and family.
Now this gets us to the 1850 census in Green County, Arkansas in which we get a little better data. In it we find that the widow Catherine Cardwell was born in 1782 in NC. Still living with her are the children; Richard b.1828 TN; Rebecca b.1832 TN; George b. 1830 TN
I do not have the other records for that census, but do know that Richard Cardwell was still living (listed on pg 197) and also a Richard Cardwell, JR (pg. 191).
I feel that this Perrin (there are so many men of that name) is the son of Perrin b.1752 and Sarah Cleary Cardwell. That the Richard and family that tags along with him is his younger brother b. 1785. [5]
3. Christiana COOK.
Christiana married Richard CARDWELL, son of Perrin CARDWELL (ca 1745-) & Sarah CEARLY (ca 1754-). Born ca 1785 in Rockingham, NC.
They had the following children:
12 i. Male (ca1816-)
13 ii. Male (ca1819-)
14 iii. Female (ca1822-)
15 iv. Female (ca1824-)
16 v. Daniel (1826-)
17 vi. Richard (1828-)
18 vii. Sarah (1829-)
19 viii. Christina (1832-)
20 ix. John (1834-)
