Actually, no, the only "mixing up" was done by you. I made it perfectly clear in my post that I was talking about the WIFE of Isham B. Cooper, and NOT his daughter. I did this by use of such usually understandable phrases as "Isham B. Cooper MARRIED to Elizabeth Reed", and "Elizabeth given as WIFE for Isham B. Cooper", and "BRIDE". How you came to conclude I was referencing the daughter, and not the wife, I know not, only suspect you must have seen "Elizabeth Jane Read Cooper" and "Elizabeth Reed" posted in close proximity to each other, and became confused in spite of the fact that I gave in each case both the correct familial association and name.
So to leave no doubt, let me try it again. On the one hand there is Elizabeth Jane Read Cooper, daughter of Isham B. Cooper, who was 14 in the 1850 census of Pontotoc Co., MS, and who was mentioned in DURHAMs post. FORGET HER (for now). I'm NOT talking about her....I am talking about a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PERSON, with a different maiden name (REED, not COOPER) whose relationship to Isham B. Cooper is as wife, not daughter.
On the other hand is the WIFE of Isham B. Cooper, whose name was Elizabeth Reed. This is the person I am talking about. This is the person I was referencing in my original post. You can tell from my original post that I am talking about Isham's wife because I use the word "wife", instead of the word "daughter". And you can tell I mean Elizabeth Reed, and not Elizabeth Jane Read Cooper, because I wrote "Elizabeth Reed", and not "Elizabeth Jane Read Cooper".
What I am trying to get people to notice is that Elizabeth Reed, the wife of Jesse Marvel Knowles could not be the same Elizabeth who married Isham B. Cooper. The Elizabeth who is listed as wife for Isham in the 1860 and 1880 census was born about 1805. So she could not have been married in 1807, at the age of 2, to Jesse Marvel Knowles. This Elizabeth (Reed) Knowles never married Isham B. Cooper. She is buried in Menard Co., Illinois, as was her husband, Jesse Knowles.
The more important point, to me, is that there is the idea that Isham married Elizabeth's sister, Mary "Polly" Ann Read. Since people think that Elizabeth is a Reed, her sister would be a Reed too. However, as I have already shown, that connection is false, and so if Isham's wives were actually sisters, then his other wife no more likely a Reed. This means that it is more likely that this Mary "Polly" Ann Read is identical to the daughter of Reubin Reid, who, going by the name "Annie Read" married James R. Knowles.
James R. Knowles is the brother of Jesse Knowles. It was a case of brothers marrying sisters. Both Knowles-Reed marriages were in Green Co., GA.
I think people have seen the "Read" in Isham's daughter's name, and used it to surmise the maiden name of Elizabeth, the wife of Isham B. Cooper. I think this is false. Isham Cooper's wives may be sisters, and they may even be REEDs/READs, but they are not the daughters of Reuben Reid whose daughter Elizabeth married Jesse Knowles.
Finally, I would just like to point out that the distinction between Read and Reed and Reid and Reade is purely artificial. The name is given various spellings in different place at different times. When they were in Greene County, GA, the name was given almost exclusively as Reid, whereas the census records give Read and Reed, and the Wilkes Tax digests give generally Read.
