Joe Houston Cooper, 64, VA, obit; s/o Jack and Mary Ruth Cooper

Big Stone Gap, VA — Joe Houston Cooper, 64, went home to
be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2012.

He was a member of the Derby United Methodist Church. His
hobby was firearms and reloading shells.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Doni Sewell
Thomas; and his father and mother, Jack and Mary Ruth
Cooper.

Joe is survived by his wife, Charlotte Cooper, of Big
Stone Gap, VA; daughter, Diana Ruth Bolinsky, of Terra
Haute, IND; two stepsons, Timothy Parks, of Maryville, TN,
and Chad Parks, of Jonesville, VA; stepdaughter, Heather
Stringham, of Rockford, IL; granddaughter, Amanda Vowell,
of Terra Haute, IND; grandson, David Vowell, of Terra
Haute, IND; four step grandchildren; a host of nieces and
nephews; sister, Doni Ann Duckett, of Danville, IL; four
brothers, Dr. Jack Sewell Cooper, of Miami, FL, Tom
Lowrance Cooper, of Appalachia, VA, Ben Ellis Cooper, of
Appalachia, VA, and Sid Pat Cooper, of Big Stone Gap, VA.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.,
Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the Derby United Methodist
Church, with services following at 8 p.m., officiated by
Rev. Carl Mehaffy.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12 noon on Monday,
March 26, 2012, at the Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap,
VA. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at
11:30 a.m., for the procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers
will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial
donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital
through the Derby United Methodist Church, 1643 Derby
Road, Appalachia, VA, 24216.

Roy A. Green Funeral Home, Appalachia, VA, is serving the
Cooper family.
