Imogene Leota Ratledge, 78, Church Hill, Hawkins Co TN,
passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Holston Valley
Medical Center, Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
A lifelong resident of Hawkins County, she was a member of
Amis Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Phipps
Bend Free Will Baptist Church.
While growing up, her family gave her the nickname, 'Tom. She
was a great supporter of her late husband, Rev. Hugh Dean
Ratledge, confirming that behind every great man is a great
woman. Imogene was very family oriented and proud of her
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hugh Dean
Ratledge; parents, Dee and Mollie Cooper; grandchild, Tara;
several brothers, sisters-in-law, and one brother-in-law.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Housewright and her
husband Roger, and Tammy Ward and her husband Marty;
brothers, Haynes Cooper, Roy Cooper and his wife Kay, Robert
Cooper and his wife Betty; sister, Mary Lena Altom; grand-
children, Zachary and Kayla Peters, and Kelsey and Rylie
Housewright; step grandchildren, Raven and Rheanna Duncan,
and Rylie Ward; sister-in-law, Betty Cooper; and other special
Calling hours are from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday, March 6,
2014, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home of Church Hill, TN.
Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m., Thursday, in the
funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Castle officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted 1 p.m., Friday, March 7,
2014, at Bethel Cemetery. Everyone wishing to attend is asked
to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 p.m. Pallbearers will be
Darren Christian, Neil Page, Kevin Cooper, Tom Looney, Sean
Chambers, and Clarence Conant. Honorary bearers will be Roy,
Haynes, Robert, and Fayne Cooper.
