Hello,

I have been working on my husband's CORBIN/SMITH/GAUNT lines for years now.Here are a few things I thought were true?

Phoebe SMITH who married William PEACHEY was the d/o Tobias Toby SMITH and Phoebe FAUNTLEROY;

Source:
Genealogies of Virginia Families, Vol. IV, "CD-ROM," 71, Deposed 7/7/1703 stated, Mr. William Hodgskin was her first husband, her brother being Mr. Henry Smith.- and she the daughter of Col. Toby Smith of Rappahannock Co-- That on a visit to Englandshe saw Mrs. Anne Peachy, mother of Mr. Sam Peachey, and heard Mr. Hodgskin call her "sister".That Martin Hodgskin was brother of Mr. William Hodgskin and Mrs. Anne Peachy was their eldest sister, and Samuel Peachey her eldest son.- confirmed by Family Bible Thomas Griffin Peachey.

Du Bellet, Louis Pecquet, Edward Jaquelin, Martha Cary Jaquelin, Some Prominent Virginia Families,, Vol. II
that her first husband was William Hodgskin, her brother being Henry Smith.She was d/o Col. Toby Smith of Rappahannock Co.that on a visit to England, she visited Mrs. Anne Peachey m/o Sam Peachey and heard Mr. Hodgskin call her sister.that M**hin Hodgskin was brother of William...

Family information which no one can verify, shows Grace W. as the wife of William SMITH s/o Tobias.Some have guessed that the maiden name could be WAIGHT, but I have found nothing, so far.

Elizabeth UNDERWOOD, sister of Margaret UNDERWOOD who married Humphrey BOOTH, married #1, James TAYLOR; m#2, Francis SLAUGHTER; m#3, John CATLETT; m#4, Amory BUTLER

Sources:
Stubbs, William Carter & Stubbs, Elizabeth Sauders Blair, A History of Two Virginia Families...., "Electronic," 4, 1663 - 64 Essex Records show that John Catlett made a Deed stating that Mrs. Margaret Upton had conveyed a certain property to Francis Slaughter Jr. (Catlett) had married Elizabeth, widow of Capt. Francis Slaughter.

Virginia Historical Society, Virginia Magazine of History & Biography, "Electronic," 283, in the will of Francis Slaughter, he refers to his brother-in-law, Col. Moore Fauntleroy.

Starr, Linda Sparks, Supplemental to Jackson - Tinsley- Rucker Timeline:,(September 2004), "Electronic," 1652 marriage Elizabeth (Underwood) Taylor, daughter of Margaret ( ) Upton Lucas andCol. WilliamUnderwood to Francis Slaughter who died 1656.[Slaughter section Marriages of VA Residents vol. II, Pt IV, p. 118]

Early Combs of Old Rappahannock Co., Virginia, "Electronic," Elizabeth UNDERWOOD who m (1) James TAYLOR, (2) Francis SLAUGHTER; (3) Col. John CATLETT; and (4) Amory BUTLER;.

Would love to find Grace's maiden name,
Linda Cashen Gaunt
