Elizabeth Cornett, daughter of Samuel, md. John Ingram

I have come across online records out of Scott Co VA which relates the lunacy case against Samuel Cornett of Perry Co,KY.In the case, two men, brothers, named Ingram (it did not give the first names) state that they were grandsons of Samuel by his "illegitimate" (term used for all children by his second wife) daughter. The suit was in the late 1840s, and checking the 1850 census, the two brothers must've been Alex and Wash Ingram, sons of John and Elizabeth. If correct, then Elizabeth was a CORNETT--online trees guessed she was an Ison.Further research found a death certificate in KY for a Susannah Ingram Akeman whose parents were listed as John Ingram and Bettie Cornett. She was listed in the 1850 census in John and Elizabeth's household.
I'm not familiar with the Ingram family, and wondered if this sounds plausible.
