Re: Coronel in Durango, Mexico
I have found a little more info on my elusive Coronel line. Raymond Coronel was born about 1890 in Mexico. His mother was Maria Felutia born about 1860 in Mexico. Raymond had a brother Jesus born about 1903. In 1910 Maria and her son Jesus immigrated to Arizona and are found living with her daughter Candelaria and her family inArizona. Maria is now a widow. I don't know what happened to Raymond--perhaps he never left Mexico. His wife Ana Cleta Salazar was born in Mexico in 1883. She stated in the 1920 Census that she immigrated into the United Stated in 1915; however, her children were born in Nogales Arizona in 1909 and 1910. It is possible with Nogales being on the border that she came to the United States to have her children and returned to Mexico or that she lived here for several years without the proper papers before 1915 and did not want to state that she had entered the United States earlier. It is also possible that her children were actually born in Mexico and that she gave their birthplace as Arizona in order to obtain citizenship for them. What happened to her first husband is not known, but by 1920 she had moved to Los Angeles and was living with her children Ramona and Rudolph, her mother in law Falutia, and a lodger Joseph Verdugo, who was the father of a son she had in 1919. By the 1930 Census he is using the name Cleta Verdugo and is living with her children, her son Rudolph's wife Marina, and her own mother Felicetas Salazar. She is shown as being married but Joseph is no longer in the home. Ana died in 1944 and her daughter Ramona stated on her death certificate that Ana had lived in California since 1914.
I am looking for some shred of info on Raymond/Ramon.
