Hi Robert
Do you know that a Margaret CORSCADDEN, daughter of one Arthur CORSCADDEN of Ballintra in the Parish of Drumhome (Drumholm) Donegal, on 23 January 1810 married one Robert MOWBRAY (or MOUBRAY) of Ardnagallah and Ballintra?
This Robert, an innkeeper, was a son of Robert MOUBRAY of Ardnagallah, and a descendant of a Robert MOUBRAY of Cramond parish (near Edinburgh) who in 1696 married in Edinburgh an Elizabeth SAERS (or SAWERS), daughter of the late Robert SAERS, a litster (dyer) of Ayr.
Margaret and Robert MOUBRAY had the following children:
William born c1810 later emigrated to Brooklyn, New York;
Catherine born 10 Oct. 1812;
John (of Ballintra) born c1813;
Margaret born c1815;
Robert (of Ballintra) born c1816;
Christian (Chrissy) born 1820;
Barbara born c1821;
James Alexander born 17 Nov. 1822.
(Some of this data may have been updated since it was first put onto the internet several years ago.)
In the 18th and 19th centuries the MOWBRAY, CORSCADDEN, COCKBURN, FREEBAIRN (FREEBORN), ANDERSON, WALKER and other families in the Drumholm parish in Donegal intermarried. You might get more info on the CORSCADDEN family if you check each of those other families in that region. There is, for example, a website for the MOWBRAY (MOUBRAY) families which mentions the Margaret Corscadden who married into the MOUBRAY family; just email David Mowbray who runs it - mowbray [at] one-name.org (substitute @ for[at], of course).
Just this afternoon, looking at an online "Griffith's Valuation" (1850s) of those in the Drumhome parish, Donegal, I noticed so many of those family names there, including two with the surname CORSCADDEN:
. Alexander Corscadden of Lurgan and
. Mary Corscadden of Durnesh.
I hope some of this helps you in your research.
Cheers
Tony Rainer
