Hello Barbara, Thomas French and Mary Catlin had 3 daughters that were taken to Montreal as you know. They were my captive Elizabeth's cousins. Marthe French Narried twice, 1st to a Roy
[Elizabeth Corse was kept in the home of his father, Pierre Roy and wife Catherine Ducharme], and 2nd to a Menard...Abigail French did not marry but became an Indian in all ways, in dress and speech and lived with the Indians in their village, and Freedom French married and raised family in Montreal.
Which of the French girls is your husband's ancestor? We have been to Deerfield a few times, most recent in 2004 to celebrate the 300 anniversary of the Raid..
I have pictures of the "Baldwin stained glass windows" that are in place at St. Michaels in Aylesbury England. They tell the story of the Baldwins leaving Dundridge Manor for America. [Dundridge Manor is still there]
There are so many Corse/Baldwin stories...Aurellia Corse, dau of General Asher Corse, married the Gov of WI in 1852, and when Lincoln appointed him [Leonard Farwell] to the Patent office, they moved to Wash. and were present with Lincoln at the Ford's Theater when Abe was shot. Another Corse cousin gave birth to the first "white" child in WI territory in 1835[wife of Uriel B. Smith] etc...Tom Glassel
