WATERVILLE — James F. Cosgrove, 86, of Waterville, died peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning, Aug. 3, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 20, 1915, in Bangor, son of Thomas and Josephine (Connors) Cosgrove. He attended Waterville schools and Waterville High School.
He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan and loved fishing and hunting, "sports was his life."
He was a member of the Maine Baseball Umpires Association and a former Waterville School Board Member and Board Chairman for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Marie (Albert) whom he married Oct. 8, 1938; two sons, Robert Cosgrove and wife Celia of Waterville and Daniel Cosgrove of Waterville; three daughters, Jolene Ouellette and husband Roland of Waterville, Jeannine Lachance and husband Paul of Fairfield, and Deborah Cosgrove and companion Cathy Cole, both of Waterville; one sister, Jean Dow of Waterville; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and his special friend, "Jake" (his son's Labrador retriever).
He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers, Joseph, Thomas, John and Robert, and four sisters, Elizabeth, Joanne, Helen and Frances.
There will be no public visitation. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at St. Francis de Sales Church, 52 Elm St., Waterville
