I found this obit in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle online. March 27, 1900 The funeral of John Cosgrove took place this afternoon at Calvary Cemetery. He was a veteran and a member of GAR Post 560. He leaves an estate of several thousand dollars, which he leaves to his only son, John. Mr. Cosgrove was born in County Armaugh, Ireland, in the year 1817. He came to this country without friends or influence. By hard work and honest dealings he gained a competence. He resided at Woodside for twelve or fifteen years, and has done much to further the interests of the town. Robert J. Moore Post 560, GAR, escorted the remains to their last resting place, accompanied by the Fire Department of Woodside and many prominent residents. A salute was fired as the old veteran was laid to rest.
