The Cossaboon/Cossaboom research I have done leads back to Jan Evertszen Kaesenbroot.
He arrived from Holland on 15 March 1663 aboard De Arent (The Eagle).
His children assumed the spelling Karsebaum or Karseboom. They remained on Long Island for a few years. The descendants that migrated to Canada predomintely spell the name Cossaboom, while the ones that went south to Cumberland, Cape May, and Atlantic Counties in NJ spell it Cossaboon (a few spelled it Cossaboom for a while). The stories saythat Gerritt Karseboom, born ca 1745, great grandson of Jan Evertszen Kaesenbroot is the only descendant that went south. All the rest went to Nova Scotia and spread out in Canada from there.
I have not found records to indicate Gerritt's childrens names yet, but believe that all the South Jersey Cossaboon's descend from him.
