Death of Agnes (LAVALLEY) COLOMBE 1890-1900 NY/VT
She was born in Coopersville, NY, where her surname is spelled LAVALLEE in church records.
She married Louis COULOMBE/COLOMBE.I believe their last child was Henry, b. 1890 in New York, town unspecified on Henry's death certificate in Vermont, but family ties are with Champlain, NY.
The two events pointing to her year of death are the birth of her last child and the 1900 Census. She was alive at the time of birth of her last child Henry in 1890 (?), but is deceased when her husband Louis Colombe appears as a widower on the 1900 Census for Barre, VT.
This may be a leap, but after reading about Lizzie Colombe marrying at age 13 in Barre in 1894 on this site, I suspect Agnes died closer that event's occurrence.Lizzie's birth was followed by that of four younger brothers. If all survived childhood, economic pressures and possibly responsibility for the care of the little brothers likely was placed on her when she was not ready for it, and made early marriage potentially easier on her father (one less mouth to feed) and on her if she was responsible for raising the younger siblings.I am aware of such pressures from the early death of a mother and being a girl left behind from descriptions of my grandmother's childhood. She was withdrawn from school and had to work for income AND care for younger siblings.Getting married at 18 sounded like it was a relief to her.
