Peter Countess and Peter G. Countess
I am hoping someone can help.I am an American combat vet (Somalia, "Blackhawk Down), who was adopted as a child...my surname is Jones, but originally Barbee. After surviving Somalia, which included many brushes with death, I resoved to find out about my lineage and to know more about my family line.I traced my lineage back through both birth parents and was able to construct back to 4 generations (this stuff is compicated, hats off to anyone sifting through history).Although I am the first in my family to earn a degree (BSW, University of Tennessee)and am the most decorated veteran in my line (so far), I became very discouraged at things I uncovered. It appears that all of the males in my line have been womanizing abusive people.I wanted to dig deeper, hoping there was an explanation for my drive to succeed...because I could not find it in the aforementioned generations and I became more depressed. And then, through my fathers line, I found that my my great great great grandmother (Ann) was born to a Livina Stoner and Peter Countess (of Queen Anns(?) Maryland). Peter Countess' father is listed as Peter G Countess. He later remarried and I dont know why. At this point I am ready to accept that I may come from an undistinguished line and that is ok...but can anyone tell me anything positive about this connection?(Country of Origin..maybe a fellow veteran).I was hoping I could have a forefather I could be proud of.I do know that this Peter Countess lived and died in Warren County, Tennesse and that he migrated from Maryland...please help and Thanks for your time, in advance....Sincerely, Stephen Lee Jones, BSW (101st Airborne Division)
