Hello--thanks for yr reply.
In 3 years, I've found out a bit more about William COX, my ggg grandfather.
Born1798 Kent, England.
Attended Oxford University, emigrated to America (unknown)--and was robbed on a stagecoach of all his wordly goods, excepting a few family heirlooms.
Worked as a newspaper reporter in Cincinnatti, served in the Civil War ( am unable to find a regiment--name is too common, but suppose he served in a local Ohio regiment)--married Christine MARMON/MOORMAN who was from Alabama, July 15, 1830 Franklin Co, IN.
According to family lore, he was a brilliant man but had a drinking problem and his children, of whom I can only verify the names of one, my gg grandma, Anna Christina COX, were raised by William's sister who emigrated with William from England. Anna C Cox married William Manning VOORHIS.
William Cox died c 1872, Ohio.
