Benjamin, Caroline and Eliza Crabb. Devon.
I am struggling to link my branch of the Crabb tree into anyone else. My gt grandmother was Eliza Crabb(1840), born in North Tawton, Devon. Her parents were Benjamin (c1816) a woolcomber and Caroline (c1816). These details from the UK 1841 census.
No trace of Benjamin and Caroline after this.
In 1851 Eliza is living with John Scantlebury, Catherine Crabb(a woolcombers's wife) and Lucy Scantlebury Crabb in Bodmin, Cornwall.
From this I assume that Catherine Scantlebury married a Mr. Crabb (quite possibly Benjamin's brother, given the occupation stated).
I cannot find evidence to support this.
Also, I do not find my "Crabbs" anywhere in any of the documentation of the Crabb families.
So, anyone have these Crabb's in their sights?
I would love to hear from anyone who might know of a link.
The only tentative evidence I have is that there is a branch of the Linkinhorne Crabb's who have some Agricultural Labourers and Shepherds as occupations (which would fit my Benjamin's lines)
Eliza married Hugo Francis Hawkins (aka Francis), a RN cook from Donaghadee, Co. Down, Ireland (brother William and parents William and Mary Ann). Her daughter Kate married Charles Fletcher in Portsea (my grand parents).
Thanks in anticipation (TIA)
