I am very interested in your Tabitha Craddock. There were at least four brothers in Mecklenburg Co VA in the late 1700's and early 1800's. They appear to be sons of a David Craddock, d. abt 1830/31
David's will is in M'burg County will book
12/13 pg 264&451 naming heirs Sally A. Vaughn, Jno N., Mary A., Edward A., Felix and Nancy Craddock
Meck. DB 24 : 420 1Aug; 17 Oct, 1831. It read : Nancy Craddock (wid of David Craddock decd); Jesse Craddock; Eliza A. Craddock; John Neal Craddock; Edward A. Craddock; Henry Vaughn; Helen?? Craddock; Nancy Craddock of Meck. to John F. Finch of same $320 Butcher's Creek adj lands of Doct---? Jones, Colo J.W. Oliver, James Cunningham. Then Meck Deed Bk 25: 45 Another deed with Henry Vaughn being listed as a Craddock heir.
So there are many children more as legatees than listed as children in the will
I THINK this David Craddock might be the son of William Craddock and Hanna Harper of Amelia Co VA. He married 1. Elizabeth Bagley 4 Feb 1780 Ameliaand had 5 children (I think, not proven). Those were Jesse, Nancy, ?Helen, Mary Ann, and Elizabeth A. He then married Nancy (Ann) Graves Neal 25 Oct 1800 mecklenburg and had at least the following; John Neal, Felix d. 1789 Mecklenburg, Edward A. b. 1811 Mecklenburg d. aft 1880 Montgomery Co VA, and Sally A. m Henry Vaughan.
I don't have offspring for any of the earlier family and don't have offspring for Felix in the second bunch. Could Tabitha have been from Jesse in the first bunch????
Any info greatfully appreciated.
