Christine:
If that book is what you were using as the source of you previous comments then I am betting your uncle didn't have a copy of the 1876 book by Rev James Geddes Craighead. It is no small wonder then that he made those mistakes I pointed out because, other than the 1876 book, there is little or no documentation regarding the family origins from which to draw. Being able to write in the 19th centruy, when people were still alive who knew George Washington, was a real privilidge.
Even so, I'll admit it's not complete and likely has a number of individuals missing in it. Dave Casto, who i referred to in the post above to Janine, had some very "interesting" things to say about it's LACK of completion.
However, the info and dates of the earliest poritons, regarding Scotland and Ireland, seems very thorough.
Would you like to compare notes? I'd be willing to trade photocopies- my book is about under 200 pages. Contact me if you are interested, and between the two of them we might be able to peice together something more complete.
