Re: frederick creager son of adam creager
I'd like to know what you have learned about FREDERICK CREAGER since you posted this message.I have Frederick's (and probably MARGARETHA's) burial place and tomb inscription. He is buried in Pickaway County OH, just over the line from Fairfield County OH. In fact, the area where he is buried was once part of Fairfield Co OH. Beside him is a stone that has "Creager" inscribed on it but the rest is illegible. It is likely that it is Margaretha, his wife.He died at age 65 years, 3 months and 5 days, which would place his birthdate at (about) Jan 14 1782.
I am probably not a CREAGER descendant. I have a 3rd great grandmother, MARY CLELLAN, who was also known as POLLY (a common nickname for Mary) CREAGER. She grew up speaking German and it is in our family tradition that she was raised in a German family and was half (?) sister to a JONATHAN CREAGER who lived in the old Ridge School District which was, I understand, in Amanda Township of Fairfield County. (Amanda Twp is north of Clearcreek Twp of Fairfield Co, which is just north of Tarlton Cemetery in Salt Creek Twp where the family was buried.) Now connect this: Jonathan Creager was with the Frederick and Margaretha Creager family in the 1830 census, a year younger than Frederick, so must likely have been a brother to Frederick.
Mary Clellan/Creager was bornOct 1 1797 (in MD, I bet), married Caleb Hedges Jr., on April 7 1814 in Fairfield Co OH
had a bunch of kids, and lived the rest of her life in Fairfield/Hocking Co OH in Perry Township, where she died Feb 19 1856. She and her husband are buried in Betheny Cemetery in Perry Twp, Hocking Co OH.
