(P.S)Today we had the thirdday of the Re-enactment of the Civil War"THE BATTLE OF WIlson's CREEK ...THE LAST BATTLE OF BLOODY HILL TODAY..Many Civil War re-inactors were here that were also in the Movies...Glory, and five or six other's , as well as hundreds of local people participating. It was fabulous...I have never expierenced such a moving and realistic event.Ever person, at all times stayed true to the era, in dress, speach..behavior on or off the (stage?) whatever..even the children were so respectful, so fully intuned. It was a real treat of treats for me.
WE ANTICIPATED 80,000 PEOPLE..the heavy rains, mud, etc. dearly affected the numbers which I would guess were more like 10 to 12 thousand..not counting the 1500 actor's.The cost of one cannon alone was $6000.00 and there many, one Cannon shot cost $5.00 in gun powder...fields planted just for this were perfect, bridges, waterfalls, but, oh the work and dediation of the people was marvelous.
(As you knowsome of our Creason Relatives were also in this war, and, I have some Civil war records...if your interested at another time..ok?
One of my best friends in High School was a Delma Ponder, whose brother Bill worked for Wolter Ruralgas in Salisbury, for many years.
