This is great,I only started researching genealogy 3 weeks ago but Ive been going to Edinburgh for several years.A favorite place is Greyfriars but I never went to Fife.Im sure to go the next trip over to see the site of some of my ancestors.Perhaps we will share a cup of tea?On another note...I have an obit. from one of my Creech relatives from the Smithfield Herald.
Micro. May 16.Death is at large in our land.About five weeks ago it visited the home of Mr. Gibson Fitzgerald and removed him from the stage of action.Sunday, this monster returned and took away the mother and the home left desolate will never be home any more to the seven children who are left behind on the joyful place of Grandfather and Grandmothers home by the many grandchildren who mourn their departure. On Wednesday, the 11th. ths same monster entered the home of Uncle Jesse T. Creech and laid his cold chilly hands upon uncle Jesse and on Thursday we laid him to rest beneath the sod to await the coming of almighty God. Friday morning, Mr. Jerome Creech was up and uncomplaining at three o'clock in the morning and directed a man to Smithfield who was lost. When the family arose to begin the days chores they found him dead in bed. This should be a warning lest he should creep in and smite us unprepared for his appearing"For ye know not the day nor the hour that the Son of Man Cometh"Cont'd
I thought Id share that piece from the newspaper and ask if anyone knows what this 'monster' was back in the early 1900s that was taking lives so abruptly. Also does anyone know what happened to Jesse's brother in law,Hezekiah (Ezekiel), his father Ezekiel, his mother Nancy?
