I was also just asked by Ben Creech if I had any pictures.I am asking my son-in-law to check with his father and grandfather. This may take a few days, and I can't promise anything. The information you provided about the photos in the Barnwell County courthouse is very interesting.
I think Frank had two wives.I believe Harlan is descended from Susan E. Cater. He may have had another wife named Catherine.Do you know which wife Eugenie (Jennie) Postell Creech descended from?Harlan, Sr. married a Jennie Lou Hutto.I believe she was descended from John Ellison Hutto and Harriette Bruner, but I haven't been able to confirm that yet.Do you have any information on that?
My son-in-law's grandfather, Harlan Longstreet Creech, Jr., just celebrated his 90th birthday. At the birthday celebration Harlan talked about his grandfather, Frank Henry, in the War Between the States. He said Frank was wounded at Lookout Tennessee, and his condition seemed so severe the medical corpsmen didn't think he would survive. So one of the corpsmen told the other they should leave him there and come back by at the end of the day after they'ed picked up the other wounded. When they came back he was still alive so he was taken to a hospital in Richmond, where he stayed for 6 months. After that he had a bum shoulder for the rest of his life.Interestingly, Frank Henry Creech was not related to General Longstreet, but so admired him that he named one of his son's Harlan Longstreet Creech.
I presume Harlan was talking about Lookout Mountain, Tennessee.Incidentally, my great grandfather, Gabriel Edward Nelson McCulloch, CSA, was also there.
Did you read the information posted in this forum by Rebecca Johnson Gordon on 1/13/02?She is my son-in-law's mother.
