Mr Randall - I noticed the activity here and thought I'd mention that I visited Mt. Airy, NC this summer - in the museum were a number of references to the Creed family. Also was able to visit the Andy Griffith museum.
Interesting that the Arrarat river flows down out of Va. along through Mt. Airy and then down a ways where it becomes the Yadkin - the Yadkin flows on down into SC where it becomes the PeeDee where The Matthew Creed I am researching lived in 1730's plus or minus - then the PeeDee flows on to the coast where it is navigable to the Negroe Field Swamp on the Socastee in Horry County SC. all the Creeds would have to do to get to the SC location from Va would be to follow the river.
