Hello: Henry Creel the father of Brumley is my 2nd greatgrandfather through Brumley's brother Isaiah. The spelling you are questioning is correctly read as Brumley. If you look at the name below his on the 1850 census you will see Hunley--also e y.Unfortunately I haven't had time to spend on the siblings of Isaiah yet but will share data I have on the family in exchange for your information. How does that sound?Have you checked the MS marriage records on microfilm for Prentiss? "Who Married Whom In Jones County" lists Prentiss R. under Brumley names and as born in 1869. Maybe if he married young and had to have consent you will find a note to that effect in the marriage records. I found one that Isaiah signed for his eldest daughter to marry. Have you read the 1870 or 1880 censuses for Jones Co.? Maybe you will find Prentiss in a household with Brumley then. If not in Jones Co. maybe elsewhere in the state. I am working on hard on putting together a documented record for Henry's father Thomas, our mutual greatgrandfather of whatever degree if Hundley is your greatgrandfather also. Very nice to run into someone working this line.
