Owens has these as John's siblings -
Thomas C. Creel, b 1823.
Anthony Creel, b 8-13-1833 Miss, d 6-11-1917, Ringling, OK,married Nancy McLemore.
Samuel S. Creel, b 1837 Miss, m Elizabeth ?.
4 other brothers, names unknown.
Possibly Elizabeth Creel, b 1836 Miss, m William Toney.
2 other sisters, names unknown.
As his father - Richard Creel, b abt 1790 possibly SC, d bef 1850, probably Scott Co., Miss, probably moved from Colleton Co.,SC in the late 1830's(although Anthony born 1833 Miss? - my note- s/b after 1830.)
Richard is given as the first source of this line - Owens could not connect to earlier Creels. A distant cousin Mike Creel is researching the SC Creels and we have hypothesized two possible lines for the SC Creels - a John Creel who acquired 500 acres in 1744 and possibly married Sarah Mozingo in Edgecombe Co. NC or a Thomas Creel via Rockingham and Anson Co.'s NC to the Pee Dee River in SC. Both of these lead back to John Creele of VA, whom Owens considered the primogenitor of most Creels in America. My own opinion is that at least one other brother(?) of John, namely Charles(whom Owens missed), who immigrated in 1680, was father of many of the lines. Best of luck with the 'Early Creels'!
