Well, each Creel you ask will be from a different country! Or it just seems that way. A physical description of John Creele of Virginia found in AIW relates he was 6'6", had light hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion - the description of a Scotsman(no short, dark Mediterranean-type here!) A descendant, George Creel, born 1745 in Prince William Co., is given this description in Shaw's History of the First Settlers(writing abou WVA) - "...endowed with an unusual prepossessing personal appearance, upward of 7 feet in height, well formed and quick, possessing great activity and strength, with a fine open countenance, a full clear black penetrating eye, a well shaped head crowned with soft silky hair, whitened by age." Black eyes? America - the melting pot! The only thing I have left is the fine, blowaway hair. even though my Dad was 6'4"! Mike Creel of SC sent me a recording of a Scotsman pronouncing the name of CRAIL, a small fishing village on the Firth of Forth -it sounded just like "Creel". So, my money's on the Scots(and you know, laddie, how tight-fisted we can be!). Besides, How much more mystery can you create about your origins than to "be bairn in a wee village no-uns everrr heard of"?
