By Carol Bawden June 17, 2005 at 07:05:20

Marian Jane Bawden was born in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Albert Ralph and Mabelle Maude Buford Bawden. She attended Davenport schools and graduated from Rockford College in Rockford, Illinois where she majored in English and business. She was a member of Alpha Theta National Honorary Music Sorority.
During WWII, she was a radio announcer for WOC (now KWQC) in Davenport, one of the first women to hold that type of job.For several years, she worked for the family advertising agency, Bawden Brothers, Inc., selling advertising. She moved to Chicago and worked for J. Walter Thompson Ad Agency as art buyer.
On 31 May 1946, she married Robert Eugene Crihfield in Chicago, Illinois, in the 4th Presbyterian Church on Michigan Avenue.
Robert was born 1 May 1920 in Normal, Illinois, to Robert Eugene and Edna Stewart Crihfield of Atlants, Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois at Normal and Beloit College where he majored in Political Science. He enlisted in the army at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois on 21 July 1942 and served as Sgt in the 707th Army-Air Force Band until he was discharged in 1946.
He worked as an advertising executive (acct. mgr) for Leo Burnett Ad Agency in Chicago and later was in charge of advertising for the Liebel-Florsheim Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He and Marian are buried in Atlanta, Illinois.
I have 2 b-dates for Marian - 1919 and 1920 (January 12). I am giving a copy of my genealogy to the local Family History Center run by the LDS (Latter Day Saints). I would like to have corrections made before I turn it over to their library.
