This Montgomery family is the research of Edgar Smith, written in 1930, and not my line. Judging from the date it perhaps needed an overhaul- which you are accomplishing-which is a good thing.I know nothing about a Montgomery relationship to Mark Twain. Mr.Maring, with his brilliant insight, helped me to sort out the various Crockett and Montgomery families. My interest was in Agnes Crockett because there seem to be so many named Agnes. The research above that of Mr. Smith is mine. The Montgomery of interest to me "appears" to be James and Anne Montgomery whose son John married Agnes Crockett-message 6136 at the Montgomery Family Forum at genforum. The DNA I am speaking of is that of the Lamont-Young family. I will check out the Montgomery Y-DNA project. Anything else you would like to add? My brother in law has Buchanon/Smith ancestors[correction John, not James]. I'm pretty sure this is of no interest to you, but a picture of James Buchanon hangs next to that of my Christesson ancestor at the local museum in what was once Buchanon County Territory, Texas.
