Mary-
Thanks! That is interesting!Hiram is my great grandfather. His first was wife Eliza/Elizabeth Brickey( b c. 1844 d. before 1892) daughter of Hestor Brickey (I haven't confirmed that yet and I suspect her father's name was Preston Brickey.I remember her name from a bible that has long ago disappeared. His second wife, Mary Ann Milligan, I never heard of before I started looking into the family genealogy.
Mary Ann and Hiram Married later in life and had none of their own children.Their marriage was 1892.This was a second go around for both of them.Mary Ann was married to a James Croom in 1866.He dies before 1880.She shows up in censuses living with her family in 1880.No children are listed as living with her.I don't know who James Croom is related to.
In the 1910 census there is a Lulu Pearl Cooper, age 14, listed as an adopted child. Ablie, age 36, of the 1910 census is Jesse/James Abner my grandfather. He is listed as a stepson in that census-Mary Ann must have been reporting. Both Hiram and Mary Ann are living at the time of the 1910 census. They aren't there at the 1920 census.Abner marries a 15 year old Pearl in 1911.
I've never heard of a Junia Croom before. How exciting!I've seen reports ascribing a son and daugter to Hiram and Mary Ann.I just assumed the daughter to be Pearl. So, a new lead!Do you have a birth date for Junia? She would have to be younger than Abner he was born in 1873 a year after his parents married.I've never seen a Junia Croom in any of the Lawrence co censuses. She is not living with Hiram in the 1910 census.Oh to have the 1890 census!I would like to think that would answer many questions.
Millard Fillmore is a younger brother to Hiram. Benajah and Polly's youngest son, and possibly youngest child (I think Melissa is the youngest and she probably died as a child).I have found 15 children of Polly and Benajah.Goodspells says there were 16.Millard's birthdate is hazy.I have seen 1843.The doctor of 1877 in Jackson co TN is listed as age 27 which would give a 1850/49 birth date. The 1870 census list him as 14 giving a 1856/55 date. The 1860 census gives his age as 6 therefore a 1854/53 date. A report of probate papers reports Millard as a minor child of 18 in 1872 and Hiram as the executor. These report would yield a 1854/53 birth date.I tend to go with the 1854 date.
In 1873 Millard marries Eliza Sharp his step-niece (sister Nancy's step daughter). That is the last confirmed Millard sighting for me.I don't know if the MF Croom of Jackson Co is the same as my Millard. Most of his siblings were born in Jackson co and it is reasonable since there were family ties there, and possibly land, that he would go there to start a practice.Ephraim (Eliza's father) was from Ohio so maybe Millard went to med school in Ohio because Eliza had family there(if that really was Millard).
So that is what I know.
