Ancestors and descendants of William Crown
I thought i should share my research on my Crown ancestors.
From websites like familysearch and freereg here's how far i've got. Some of it may be wrong, in particular the early ancestors.
I heard Crowne comes from the Scottish name Cron for "fair hair" but i'm not sure when the first Crowne came to England as my ancestors all lived in East Anglia

Children of Eliza: John 1876-1948 (my great great grandfather) and Ernest. Born illegitimate when she was still in her teens. John and his brother were brought up as Smiths.
My grandad told me John later changed his name from Smith to Crown when an old lady interrupted his wedding claiming he was born a Crown and should get married a Crown.
