Alexander Crozier & Co. (St Louis)
I am seeking information on the Alexander Crozier & Co. of St. Louis, MO who I believe either sold or built a steamboat (The Gasconade) for William Leach of Cooper Hill, MO in 1869 for $3578.32.The steamer soon burnt and the sheriff seized Mr. Leach's land that was put up for collateral.William Leach then died of pnuemonia in 1871.
Is anybody familier with this man and his company. The only record we have of "The Gasconade" is in Mr. Leach's will and I'm trying to verify the transaction for a historical research project on Cooper Hill, MO.
There is an Alexander Crozier that was on the Commission for the St. Louis Water Works in 1867 which could very well be the same man.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
